Chicken Noodle Soup for the Soul
To continue my January soup series, I bring your attention to the Chicken Noodle Soup at Mandu. You’ve already heard me praise the happy hour specials at this Korean restaurant, but my favorite menu offering is their noodle soup. Served at an almost-boiling temperature, the clear broth soup is teeming with vegetables and noodles. You can order yours with chicken, beef, or tofu. Add a generous gob of their hot chili sauce, and you’ll start sweating…in a good way. The $10 soup is more than enough for a meal—I usually bring about 1/2 cup home to eat the next day. Patten is a fan of their Mandu Guk, another clear broth soup that’s filled with dumplings instead of noodles. I find that broth a bit plain, but Patten claims it’s the perfect medicine for a cold.
